Milnes
Acquires GPS Technology
Milnes Companies have acquired new
technology. The technology known worldwide as Global Positioning
System (GPS) can be used around the globe in connection with
accurately determining locations, navigating, monitoring goods,
mapping, and
timing events regardless of weather conditions.
GPS Technology consists
of orbiting satellites and ground receivers. The satellites
are known reference points that continuously transmit
accurate position and time signals to the ground receiver.
Ground positions can now be determined quickly with a degree
of precision
that previously was difficult to achieve.
The GPS equipment that
Milnes Companies acquired allows their engineers and/or
surveyors the ability to obtain, in the field, millimeter
position accuracy in three dimensions. This equipment will
be used in connection with land boundary surveys, topographic
surveys, construction stakeout, establishment of horizontal and
vertical
control for aerial mapping, route surveying, as built surveys,
court exhibit surveys, location of wetlands and waterways,
GIS
mapping and management mapping.
